Botanical Gardens

This weekend we finally got out to the Botanical Gardens (We've been planning to go for WEEKS!). They have a special butterfly exhibit going on in their conservatory where they have release hundreds of butterflies from around the world and continue to release them daily....It was pretty cool to walk around and have butterflies just flying by your head...Abby was not amused and was pretty scared of the butterflies, but the rest of us really enjoyed it....Since we were already there, we enjoyed going on a walk through the beautiful gardens as well...They have quite an extensive rose garden....We'll have to go back once they bloom!

They keep the conservatory pretty warm and humid.....

Sorry, I don't know the names for a lot of these butterflies--they gave us a little guide, but they all look so different from the pictures!!

I do know this one--It's an atlas moth and it was HUGE. They are nocturnal so it was sleeping and holding still making it one of the easier to photograph.... (It's on the tree behind Gracie)

Closer look at the atlas moth

Grace!

Blue morpho???

Paper Kite
Chinese Swallowtail??
Hortense Long-wing

This is pretty much how Abby looked the entire time in the conservatory... :)

Magnolia trees

"Spirit of woman" statue :)I loved these little flowers, but they weren't labeled....Do you know what these are Dad Gibson??

It got pretty windy by the end of the day... :)
There was a large group of red hat society women there...I loved all of their large hats and purple dresses....Give me 40 years and I'm there!

Abby and Katy

Grace and Annie

The girls made a "club" in their room and attached a whole variety of signs on the door. They included "No babies allowed" for the sake of Corban who would crawl after them as fast as he could...Poor guy....

It was hard to get both boys looking at the same time! Love it!

Snow Day

Last Friday we couldn't go into work or school due to the weather and below you can see just the weather we had!! It was so much fun playing the snow...Who would've thought???
